Michigan Teen May Have Been Cyberbullied By Her MOM!

42-Year-Old Charged In Cyber Crime Was Also The School's Basketball Coach

A lot of parents struggle with cyberbullying because it's difficult to control what's happening to their kids.  But one mom understood it so well that she decided to get in on the act!

A 42-year-old woman in Beal City (near Mount Pleasant) named Kendra Licari was arrested recently after she allegedly cyberbullied her own daughter and the boy she was dating.  The harassment went on for over a year and included 349 pages of text and social media messages.

Licari had recently been dismissed as the Beal City High School's girls' basketball coach.

The Mom Tried To Cover Her Own Tracks And Even Tried To Talk Like A Teen

She was doing it anonymously, and she was kind of sophisticated about it.  She used a VPN to cover up her tracks digitally and she even changed up her vocabulary to use hip slang to make it look like the messages were written by classmates.

If that wasn't bad enough, when things started to point in her direction as the culprit, she even tried to frame another student for the harassment.

At first, the victim even went to her mom for help, but when that didn't work, she told authorities at Beal City High School, who then contacted the Isabella County Sheriff's Department.

The investigation went on for around a year before the mother was caught.

Kendra was hit with five charges, including stalking, obstruction of justice, and using a computer to commit a crime, which is a felony.  (There's no crime in trying to talk like a teenager, but there should be).

She's looking at up to 20 years in prison.
