Do You Agree with Michigan’s Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dish?
Every year at Thanksgiving, families gather around a table and enjoy a nice homemade feast with turkey and all the fixings. But what is the favorite side dish for everyone?
How The Favorite Side Dish Was Determined
The website TasteOfHome.com recently published a United States map showing what every state prefers as their Thanksgiving side dish.
Some of their findings included:
One fifth of the country (10 states) likes Mashed Potatoes as their side dish
Green Bean Casserole was number one for the people in seven states
Mac and Cheese came in third -- with six states along the east cost choosing this as their favorite side dish
Rolls/Biscuits tied for third with Mac and Cheese. Six states enjoy some bread with their meal
The more interesting side dishes that were chose in some states included:
Deviled Eggs in Indiana
Broccoli Casserole in Kentucky
Side Salads in Main
Hashbrown Casserole in Alaska
What is Michigan's Favorite Side Dish?
I thought Michiganders would choose something basic, like Mashed Potatoes or maybe Stuffing. At the very least it thought maybe Rolls or Gravy might be the top answer. We are a pretty basic state when it comes to food. Nothing too out of the ordinary for us!
Much to my surprise, the most popular side dish for Michigan was determined to be Green Been Casserole! Who took part in this poll? Is that really your favorite? I like green beans, but there is no need to turn it into a casserole (which basically means "add cream of mushroom soup"!)
Need help figuring out your favorite side dish. Taste of Home posted this on their Facebook page...
Whatever your favorite side dish might be, we want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hopefully you have lots to be thankful for this year.
