Emily Sioma, a Grass Lake resident who was voted Miss Michigan and was representing the state at the Miss America Pageant, made the most of her intro last night.

Sioma had ten seconds to say something about her home state and she elected to remember the beleaguered residents of Flint, who still don't have clean drinking water in many areas.

What Sioma said, '84 percent of the world's fresh water, but none for its residents to drink, I'm Miss Michigan, Emily Sioma.'

Sioma instantly won fans online for her stand. With several posting the clip and adding some encouraging comments almost immediately.
