The Muskegon County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help finding a man they say tried to abduct a woman who was walking home in the early evening of October 25, 2018.

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff's department, the woman was walking home from the store with a small child in a stroller around 5:15 p.m. on October 25 when the incident occurred. She was walking north along the shoulder of Holton Road between Adams Street and Dalson Road near Twin Lake when an older, dark green SUV approached her and slowed down.

The woman attempted to run away from the vehicle, but it pulled ahead and blocked the shoulder in front of her. When she turned to run in the opposite direction, the suspect exited the vehicle and grabbed her. She fell to the ground, and the suspect attempted to drag her to the vehicle. She was eventually able to fight him off, and he returned to his vehicle and fled the scene. The woman suffered minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, clean shaven, with a long dark blonde ponytail with receding hairline, approximately 5’5”, average build, last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and work boots.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in attempting to identify the suspect and vehicle. It is believed that this incident was witnessed by a passerby. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Muskegon County Sherriff’s Office at (231) 724-6658 or Silent Observer at (231) 722-7463 or via the web at
