The extra cost could be a positive one for public safety.

The "Sporting Entertainment Tax" was just introduced in the Senate, last week, which would put a $3 tax on sport and concert tickets. According to the proposed bill, that money would be put into a fund for the city and then get distributed (34%) to police officers, (33%) to firefighters and (33%) to EMT who's services were used for that event.

WXYZ Detroit reports that Detroit is the only qualifying city for this bill because it's the only city in Michigan with a population of over 500,000 and has venues that seat over 5,000 people. So while seeing a concert at Van Andel won't make a difference... seeing any of the Detroit sports teams will cost you a bit more.

Do you support this proposed bill? Would you pay extra for entertainment if it means helping out those who serve us?
