Michigan Football Fans Are All Saying the Same Thing About the Detroit Lions Loss to Buffalo and the ‘NFL Script’
A favorite hot topic among pro football fans is the continued belief in the concept of the 'NFL Script.' This conspiracy theory contents that the league manipulates game outcomes and situations to craft the most compelling storylines to draw the largest possible television audiences.
This is the underlying thought behind referees' controversial calls and other things that can swing a game. The 'NFL Script' conversation has come back into play after the Detroit Lions lost to the Buffalo Bills in a game that ended with a 48-42 final score that is a scoragami.

Why does this outcome spark NFL Script talk? It's all about the end of the season match-up with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings are just a half game behind the Lions heading into Minnesota's Monday Nighter against the out-of-contention Chicago Bears.
Should the Lions win their next two against Chicago and San Francisco - two games Detroit will be favored in - it's a likely scenario Detroit and Minnesota who will face each other in Week 18 to close out the season

And that's the perfect set up for a dream NFL Script. The Lions, a team that felt like a 'team of destiny' to take their next step and earn a Super Bowl berth, has had the best season in franchise history with the longest winning streak ever still finds itself within easy striking distance of the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings host quarterback prospect JJ McCarthy (from the University of Michigan, no less) and has had and overly impressing season with a back up, perceived washed up, quarterback. In any other division, the Vikings would have clinched.
But the NFC North could very easily come down to the final week, final game. The Vikings lost the early season match-up against the Lions, so Detroit currently owns the head-to-head tiebreaker. A final week game for the NFC North, and potential first round bye (although the Philadelphia Eagles with have a great deal to say about that #1 seed slot).
The NFL does not the TV broadcast schedule until that final week, so they can put a meaningful game into prime slots, particularly the Sunday Night game which serves as a season wrap-up. That position always goes to a game with a division title or win-and-in scenario on the line.
So should the Lions overcome more injuries and the Vikings take care of their business down the stretch against the Bears, Seahawks and Packers (those last two not easy outs while the Bears are now in spoiler postions), then look out for an epic tilt to close the season.
