Now There WILL Be A Fireworks Show In Muskegon This 4th of July
It's still early, but a number of summer fireworks shows have already been canceled this year, but one previously canceled 4th of July fireworks show is reversing their decision and is back on.
WZZM reports that even though event organizers canceled the 4th of July fireworks at Muskegon Lake earlier this month over finance and COVID-19 concerns, the Muskegon City Commission decided Tuesday to reverse that decision by announcing they were allocating $60,000 for the annual firework show to happen.
While COVID-19 concerns are still top of mind, funding for the independence day show was a bigger catalyst to the earlier announcement, so when the city commission solved that problem, the show was ready to go on.
It will be interesting to see how many other community fireworks shows proceed this year. So far South Haven has canceled their 4th of July fireworks out of an abundance of safety as we come out of the pandemic.
The free fireworks show in Muskegon will happen on Saturday, July 3rd. WZZM says the fireworks show is part of RockStock, which happens downtown Muskegon at Lake Muskegon, at Muskegon County's Heritage Landing Park.
WZZM also says that they've heard there's another community fireworks show being planned in Muskegon at Twin Lake Park. Details aren't out yet on that celebration.
