The Home Stadium of Michigan’s Biggest Rival – Hometown Paper Called it a ‘Morgue’
When you attend a college football game or watch on television it's the pageantry of the game and the atmosphere that provides the electric vibes of the experience.
So if you have a college football stadium described as a morgue - you may think someone is describing a smaller school from a smaller conference. Or you may think that atmosphere would be at a school that isn't a 'football school.'

It would surprise you to have a football stadium described as a morgue if that school is one of the major powerhouses of the sport. A school that competes for national championship year after year.
That is the situation at The Ohio State University. Ohio Stadium was described by the hometown Columbus Dispatch as a 'morgue.' with the media outlet posting the following on X:
Ohio Stadium felt more like a morgue than a fun fan experience Saturday against Nebraska. Why can't the Shoe be more like Oregon's Autzen Stadium?

The article was shared on a Reddit thread dedicated to college football and fans there pointed mainly to the monied fanbase for Ohio State as the opposition to a more 'fun and frenetic' fan experience:
Spoiled plus the stadium is full of old rich donors who don't like it when you stand up.
My first OSU game was in 05ish? There was some old a**hat telling us to sit while we were cheering during a 3rd down. My buddy’s mom turned around and told him to go home if he wants to sit and watch the whole game.
Its been an issue for decades.
The main problem though is ticket pricing (working people are being priced out more), bougie rich donors who could give a **** about standing\making noise and the fact the student section is so disconnected from the rest of the stadium.
So is the Ohio State football doomed to be a more staid because that's the expectation of the donor base? Perhaps. If that's the case, while the Buckeyes may continue to be near the top of the Big 10 in football performance, it may be very different end of the spectrum for fan experience.
