For the last few months on the Night Shift with Craig Allen, we've been taking a journey through the One Hit Wonders of the 1980s and this week getting closer to the end of the decade focusing on 1987. Join us tonight for these bands that only struck lightning once with one hit.

T’PAU – HEART AND SOUL: Ok Trekkie,s did you know the band is named after a Vulcan character on Star Trek? Me either, not sure how I missed - Double Finger Peace Out from Mr. Spock. This pop-rock band is from England and would have only one hit reaching #4 in May of 1987.

MIDNIGHT OIL – BEDS ARE BURNING: This rock band is from Australia and it's lead singer Peter Garrett would later become involved in politics as a minister. "Beds Are Burning" is a political message, too, singing about the plight in the Australian Desert. Who hasn't burned the Midnight Oil and for a band with only one fop 40 hit they are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

PRETTY POISON – CATCH ME (I’M FALLING): The pop-dance group is from Philly. The song's popularity was helped by being featured in the movie "Hiding Out" with Jon Cryer. "Catch Me" reached #8 this week in 1987.

PATRICK SWAYZE - SHE’S LIKE THE WIND: Patrick told me the story of the filming of the movie Dirty Dancing with Jennifer Grey. She were coming up with their own lines as they were filming. The actors never thought the movie would amount to anything and were only paid scale vs. a percentage of the movie which would have made all of them rich. His lift of Jennifer Grey is famous and was duplicated by Ryan Gosling in Crazy Stupid Love. And is a crazier story - I sang karaoke right after him at a bar in Hell's Kitchen where his sister worked as a bartender. He did a Frank Sinatra song and I did "Brick House". Can't make this stuff up, folks.

CLUB NOVEAU – LEAN ON ME: This remake of the Bill Withers' classic would go on to be #1 for the band from the state capital of California, Sacramento. They would have another song barely inside the Top 40 called "Why You Treat Me So Bad"
