COVID has taken it's toll on so many things, including the opening of the Broadway Grand Rapids season. Last night Hairspray was supposed to open but due to COVID in the cast they had to cancel. But not tonight!

With all things resolved, Hairspray will have their opening performance of the National Company's week's run TONIGHT at DeVos Performance Hall! I can't wait!

Hairspray, Broadway’s Tony Award-winning musical comedy phenomenon is back on tour and finally in Grand Rapids. Join 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960’s Baltimore as she sets out to dance her way onto TV’s most popular show. Can a girl with big dreams (and even bigger hair) change the world?

This all-new touring production reunites Broadway’s award-winning creative team led by Director Jack O’Brien and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell.

Broadway GR and the company say the remainder of the week will run as scheduled, and last nights cancelled performance has been rescheduled for next Monday, January 17, at 7:30. All ticket holders will be sent an email to fill them in.
