Some of us are considering buying the supplies to build an ark if this rain doesn't let up soon. I think it's a solid plan. Especially since, as of this morning, several roads are closed across West Michigan due to flooding. Our friends at WZZM-13 have compiled a list of the road closings that have been reported so far. Grandville:

  • Northbound and Southbound I-196 Business Loop (Grandville Avenue) between Clyde Park and Godfrey
  • Ivanrest at Buckcreek
  • 34 Street (Ivanrest to Wayburn)
  • 44th at Kenowa
  • Sanford south of Busch
  • Basswood north Shady Oaks
  • Shady Oaks east of Basswood
  • Spartan Industrial Drive at Pine Creek
  • Fairlanes south of Chicago Drive
  • Franklin (2900 Block)
  • White to Division
  • Carlton Park at Elwood

Wyoming:

  • Wilson from 52nd to 56th
  • Wilson from Delmar View Dr to 64th
  • Clay Ave south of 54th. Seek alternative routes.

Grand Rapids:

  • 28th Street and Division closed in all directions due to flooding. MDOT
  • Lake Michigan Drive and Fairfield.

Walker: The City of Walker is experiencing extensive flooding related to the current rainfall event and the downstream flooding associated with the rising elevation of the Grand River. We are currently closing down several roads to prevent vehicles from attempting to cross these flooded areas. These roads are:

  • North Park Street west from West River Drive to Monroe Avenue
  • Turner Avenue between West River Drive and the southbound US 131 ramps
  • Mill Creek Avenue between North Park Street and West River Drive
  • Veterans Memorial Drive between Maynard and Butterworth.
  • Riverbend Drive between Butterworth Drive and Veteran's Memorial Drive

Holland:

  • 72ndat Business Loop 196 Pending Closure
  • Ottawa Beach Rd. by Ottawa Beach Inn
  • Business Loop I-96 at 100th Turnback (wet)
  • 84thSouth of Adams
  • Felch between 72nd & 80th
  • 104thSouth of Adams to Mason

Cedar Springs:

  • Main Street (Northland Drive for Kent County residents) has been closed between Oak Street and Pine Street
  • 5th Street has been closed where the Cedar Creek crosses at Cherry Street
  • The closure of Main Street basically eliminates north-south traffic through the City. Alternate routes should be sought

Cascade:

  • Thornapple Bayou Drive - bridge is out. Dead end street with 5 houses stranded. Bridge is over a creek off of the Thornapple River.

Grant:

  • Ferris Avenue, south of the Muskegon River

Ottawa County:

  • Northbound and Southbound US-31 at M-40 (Lincoln Avenue) is closed due to flooding per Ottawa County Dispatch. Also closed at 32nd
  • Northbound US-31 at I-196 exit 44 is closed due to water over the roadway per MDOT

Muskegon County:

  • Cline Road closed west of Wolf Lake Road due to a washout

Ionia County:

  • M-21 closed in Pewamo
