The discussion came up on Reddit recently in the subreddit dedicated to Saginaw. The question revolved around a cult that operated in the Bridgeport area in the 1970s. Bridgeport is a southern suburb of Saginaw:

One commentor thought the story may be related to the Ferris Family and the Ferris House in Bridgewater. The family owned furriers in Saginaw and Flint and subject of a 20 year old Dateline NBC episode about a convicted murderer in the family.
was eventually found to be operating a sex ring - swingers type adult service in the early 2000's.
Another commenter speculated the "cult" was a reference to The Way, or officially The Way International.
My wife’s dad was a member of The Way in the 70s. Not sure if it was in Bridgeport but I know he lived on that side of Saginaw around that time.
A researcher at Cornell draws connections between The Way and Jehovah's Witnesses and talks about their founding in the 1970s, the same era as the Bridgeport question.
A Grosse Pointe newspaper from 1981 ran a front page story about The Way labeling them a controversial cult and openly questioned if they were seeking teen members from the Grosse Pointes.
That's abotu the point where the trail runs dry. Was there a secretive cult in the Saginaw area in the 1970s? If there was no one is talking much about it even 50 years on.
