Prince Collaborator Shiela E. Confirms There Will Be No Prince Hologram During Halftime Show
Let the speculations, rumors and guesses continue for tonight's highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime show.
Less than 24 hours before the biggest night in American football, Prince's close friend and collaborator Shiela E. shut down the rumors following the reports of the late Prince's hologram appearing during Justin Timberlake's halftime show. The musician confirmed the news via Twitter on Saturday (February 3) evening stating she was on a phone call with the Man of the Woods singer.
"Family, I spoke with Justin tonight and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince and the Purple fans," Shiela E. tweeted. "I look forward to seeing what I’m sure is going to be a spectacular halftime show. There is no hologram."
In addition, Shiela E., whose real name is Shiela Escovedo, said the late "Purple Rain" singer would've disapproved the creation of a hologram.
"Prince told me don’t ever let anyone do a hologram of me. Not cool if this happens!" Escovedo said in a separate tweet.
Singer Janelle Monae, who has done a Prince tribute at the 2016 BET Awards, quoted and replied to the tweet expressing relief that it wasn't happening.
"THANK YOU. Thank you," Monae said, followed by a blessed hands and umbrella emoji.
Super Bowl LII airs live on NBC at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Sunday (Feb. 4).
