According to Consumers Energy, last week's storms caused one of their top 10 outages in Michigan.

Consumers Energy has stated that nearly 2,500 customers In Kent County will be temporarily cut off. Consumers Energy will shut off power at 9 p.m. on June 26 for about 5 hours.

With temperatures set to flirt with 90 again this weekend, Consumers Energy is reminding customers they will be implementing its summer peak rates beginning today, and that means West Michigan customers of the power provider will be paying higher rates.

With the pandemic and tax season, it's wise to be on high alert for scammers. There's another type of scam we should watch out for involving electricity, West Michigan police warn.
