The parent company for HopCat, Stella's Lounge, and the Grand Rapids Brewing Company -- BarFly Ventures -- filed for bankruptcy restructuring on Wednesday morning.
Hanging outdoors with friends while having cocktails is a summer staple and Stella's Lounge, in Downtown Grand Rapids, might be joining in on the fun.
MLive reports that the BarFly Ventures (owner of Stella's) have submitted plans to the Grand Rapids Planning Commission to add an outdoor patio that would seat 36 people where they can eat and drink.

Three Barfly Ventures restaurants - Stella's Lounge, HopCat, and Grand Rapids Brewing Company - all announced via Facebook that they will close at 3 p.m. on Thursday so that staff may attend the memorial of a 7-year-old girl.

Mark Sellers is closing the Viceroy. His downtown speakeasy-type bar is going to have new life as an expanded Stella's Lounge. Stella's has become quite the downtown hit. Cheap, strong drinks, retro style video games and pinball machines, and a stuffed burger that made national headlines.
