Michigan DNR Uncovers Vehicles Totally Buried by Record Snowfall at Tahquamenon Falls
The winter of 2024-2025 started with a walloping snow storm in northern Michigan. Particularly hard hit was the eastern Upper Peninsula. The far eastern tip around Sugar Island south of Sault Ste Marie saw upwards of 4 feet of snow.
Similar totals were seen near Munising and eastward along the Seney Stretch.

That's the same region of the UP you'll find Tahquamenon Falls. The popular state park is home to perhaps the state's best known natural feature, the giant waterfalls of tannin-tinged water the color of root beer.
That area was hard hit during the snowstorm and state park workers shared some pretty incredible images. They show cars, or at least one car in particular, that had been left in the parking lot and buried under feet of snow.
The vehicle was a Chevy Impala which led to a humorous post on social media about the freeing of the vehicle.
The series of photos shows the freeing of the cars. And the Impala turned over and was running, so none the worse for wear.

The joke works when read in the voice of British naturalist and narrator of the Planet Earth series of nature films, Sir David Attenborough.
Whoever created this was brilliant! We read it in Sir David’s voice and couldn’t stop laughing.
The author is a creative genius!
For the record, Tahquamenon Falls saw 60 inches of snow during the storm.
