The Grand Rapids Public Library Invites You To Geek Out
I absolutely love how many comic book stores West Michigan has to offer. So if you're a huge comic book fan like me, it may seem like a great place to meet other folks who have similar interests.
But, normally when an area has a lot of comic book stores, they'll generally have a fairly strong comic convention in the area, but Grand Rapids seems to be lacking in that category. So, if you want to meet other "nerds", where do you go other than to wait at the comic shop?
The Grand Rapids Public Library is bringing back their mecca of nerdom with the return of the Comic Geek Out. They announced earlier this week that The event will be held on Saturday, July 16 at Yankee Clipper Branch Library.
This event will be for nerds of all level- if you're new to comics and have only seen the movie, or are ready to get into some deep cuts with your favorite costume, this will be for everyone. They'll be offering a cosplay contest as well as a costumed meet-and-greet. It will also include a comic strip workshop, tabletop games, appearances, comic themed crafts, and an exhibit about the history of comics.
Grand Rapids' very own Colleen O’Shaughnessey who you may know from her voice credits on popular animated shows like Digimon, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and the Sonic The Hedgehog Franchise.
So if you or someone you love is looking to nerd out, get that costume together and get ready to join the Grand Rapids Public Library for the return of this event. You can find more details on their website.
