This CANNOT Be Michigan’s Most Popular Condiment, Can It?
The folks at Thrillist don't know us. They claim we like all sorts of things we don't, and I for one, won't stand for it anymore.
In an article published earlier this week, the web site claims that Michigan's most popular condiment is Bertolli Alfredo Sauce with Aged Parmesan Cheese.
WTF?
First of all, let me say they that Thrillist really widened the idea of what is a condiment. Spaghetti Sauce? That's like saying Coconut Oil is a condiment.
Wait. What's that? Nature's Way Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is #1 in Hawaii, Minnesota, Oregon, Alaska, and Colorado? That's insane. What is happening?
According to the article, they make it clear that it's not necessarily the most-used condiment in each state. More like the one that's currently TRENDING the most. And they used a pretty loose definition of what a "condiment" is. So things like peanut butter and alfredo sauce count.
For you traditionalists, yellow mustard is #1 in three states: Delaware, Missouri, and Tennessee, and ketchup topped the list in its home state of Pennsylvania.
I'm willing to believe that Alfredo Sauce is a condiment, but until I dip my french fries in it, I'm NOT okay with this. I'll get back to you.
