For the last few months, every time you log onto social media you've probably seen at least a few of your friends posting what look like Tetris grids with a score above them. No, they aren't playing a weird version of a text game, it's their score from the popular web browser game, Wordle.

If you haven't heard of it, Wordle is a game where you have a 5 letter word every day that you are attempting to guess. For every letter you get correct, it will give you a green square. You have 6 attempts to guess the word before it's revealed to you and you lose the game.

And while this game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle for his girlfriend who loves word games. Little did he know, by the time it was all over, we'd all be addicted to it too. He sold the game for almost $1 million to the New York Times

But if you're seeing a lot of Wordle puzzles on your timeline, it's because Michigan has one of the top cities in the US for Wordle. Here are the cities that love to play the game the most.

The city who is the best at Wordle is... Canberra, Australia.

This city down under is great at guessing, they tend to get the answer right in 3.58 guesses. And Australia seems to be great across the board, hosting 4 of the top 10 cities in the world at the game.

The state who is best at Wordle is... North Dakota?!

People from North Dakota are on average able to guess the Wordle in 3.65 guesses, beating out the rest of the US but only by a hair. In fact, Michigan is not far down on the list, with us guessing the word on average in 3.97 tries. (We're guessing they beat us because there's nothing better to do in North Dakota anyway.)

And the top three Wordle cities in the US are...

1. St. Paul, Minnesota (3.51 average guesses)

It makes sense that Ann Arbor is representing the rest of the mitten. Not only is it the home of the University of Michigan, which houses one of the top education programs in the country.

It's also one of the most educated cities in Michigan, with 97% of their residents having at least a high school education, and 76% of their residents with a bachelor's degree, according to census data.

What do you think, is there a better city in Michigan for Wordle? leave a comment and let us know your most recent score. (Just don't ruin anyone else's puzzle, okay?)
