Sam Adams is getting ready to roll out their new beer but this one is making headlines for being so strong that it's actually banned in 15 states.

Every two years Samuel Adams releases their Utopia beers, their highest alcohol-containing beer. Their newest one comes out on October 11th and has an ABV of 28%. No wonder why it's called Utopia. A beer like that will take you to higher level of happiness.

Not only does the beer have a high alcohol content but it also comes with a big price tag, worth $240! The beer comes in a fancy 25-oz bottle.  This is the type of drink that I would love to try but can never justify spending that much money on one bottle of alcohol, unless other people wanted to split the cost.

Due to the amount of alcohol, Utopia legally can't be served or sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, and West Virginia. Michigan... we're in the clear!

What's even cooler is that this year, the Boston lager company decided to brew their Utopia beer with real Michigan cherries.

This year, brewers dipped into their secret stash of Michigan Balaton cherries, knowing the subtle sweet and tart notes of these unique stone fruits would enhance the overall profile of Utopias, to create a rich flavor of black cherry and dark fruits, with hints of maple and vanilla.

The alcohol this year's beer was brewed with a blend of the strongest beers, some that have been aging for the last 30 years in Bourbon barrels.

Brewers then finish the blend in a combination of Carcavelos, Madeira, Ruby Port, and Sherry Oloroso barrels. This year, for the first time, brewers also aged a portion of the blend in Sauternes French oak wine casks which brings subtle notes of honeyed apricot and caramel to the rich layers of flavor.

Well, no wonder why this thing is 28% alcohol. I feel drunk just reading that!

The end result will not only have your mind feeling drunk but your taste buds too with a smooth taste of of a vintage port, cognac, or sherry.

This Utopia beer is very limited so keep a lookout for it by using the beer locator.
