A pair of fourth-quarter TD passes by MVP quarterback Tom Brady and a defensive stand won it for the New England Patriots in a 28-24 Super Bowl XLIX win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in Glendale, Ariz.

New England defender Malcolm Butler's goal-line interception on the goal line of Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson's pass intended for Ricardo Lockette with 20 seconds left sealed a crazy back-and-forth game at University of Phoenix Stadium before 70,288.

The Patriots (15-4)  survived a last-gasp push by the Seahawks (14-5), which had driven to the 1-yard line boosted by a juggling 33-yard reception by Jermaine Kearse and a 31-yard reception by Marshawn Lynch earlier in the drive.

Seattle was seeking a Super Bowl repeat. Instead, Brady and Patriots Coach Bill Belichick are NFL champions for the fourth time.

Brady put a stamp on his legacy, leading the Patriots from a 10-point deficit to capture his third Super Bowl MVP award. He finished the game with 37-of-50 passing for 328 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.

While he now equals San Francisco 49ers great Joe Montana with four Lombardi Trophies and three Super Bowl MVPs, Brady is the all-time career leader with 13 Super Bowl touchdown passes. He threw touchdown tosses to in the first half to Brandon LaFell and Rob Gronkowski and in the fourth quarter to Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman -- the latter with just more than 2 minutes remaining.

Seattle had led 24-14 lead in the third quarter on Steven Hauschka's 27-yard field goal and Doug Baldwin's 3-yard touchdown reception.

For Seattle, Chris Matthews grabbed four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown and Lynch ran for 102 yards and a touchdown. Wilson finished 12-of-21 passing for 247 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

New England has won its four Super Bowl titles in the last 14 years, and is the sixth team in NFL history with four or more Super Bowl victories.
