The note is filled with misogynistic themes advocates extreme violence against women and includes NSFW language. The note was placed on a puzzle book about unsolved crimes is signed Albert Fish, a notorious serial killer who was active in New York in the 1920s.
The person who discovered the note brought it to the attention of store employees who lamented this was not an isolated incident. Further, it was reported the clerk indicated the note writer was 'escalating' either the level of the threats or amount.

Traverse City police and Grand Traverse sheriff's deputies are aware of the notes.
The person who discovered the note and shared it on social media reported that the clerks say the notes have been appearing around the store for months and each one called for violence against women in the Traverse City area.
The note discovered in mid-December 2024 was apparently the first one signed, though the Albert Fish name was obviously a fake and intended to call back to the serial killer.
