Harrowing Video Shows Truck Slam Fire Engine in Icy Crash Along Interstate 94 in Southwest Michigan
The morning of December 12, 2024, much of Michigan was blanketed with fresh snow and a layer of ice creating treacherous driving conditions.
One of the worst hit locations was in the southwest Michigan community of Kalamazoo. There a sheriff's deputy camera captured a box truck slamming several fire department vehicles along I-94.

It happened around 8:30 in the morning. Crews from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department as well as Comstock Township Fire were working a rollover crash. That vehicle was well off the roadway and crews were looking to right the car.
As crews were working and a sheriff's deputy is on the scene with a dash camera rolling, a box truck can be seen coming into view skidding on the ice and slamming into the fire department vehicle. The truck overturns upon impact and collides with other Comstock Fire trucks on the scene.
The deputy is working the scene asking the crew if they think they can get the vehicle uprighted when a crunching sound is heard followed quickly by the out of control truck coming into view.
Fire department crews are seen scrambling onto the highway's embankment while the deputy remains amazingly calm. Following a well deserved expletive, he radios dispatch that there has been a PI (personal injury accident) and to send rescue.
The KCSO reports that there were no injuries to emergency workers and only minor injuries to the driver of the truck.
The video, with a touch of NSFW language, has been posted to Facebook and it not embeddable and may be viewed here.
I-94 was closed for some time following the crash to allow for clean-up of the scene.
