The gales of November came early alright. Like October 24. A storm propelled by something called 'bombogenesis' drove big winds across Lake Superior, lashing the shoreline with 25 foot waves.

Bombogenesis is defined by the Weather Channel as a rapidly intensifying area of low pressure. It happened in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan yesterday, driving winds to 60 mph and causing huge waves near Marquette. Two people were swept into the waves and were lost to the lake.
