WATCH: Marching Onto The Field At The Big House

Every season, the Michigan Marching Band thrills thousands of fans with exciting performances that many consider one of the greatest college bands in the country. In time for Saturday's game against Wisconsin, here's a hype video for you.

The Michigan Marching Band, aka, MMB, rehearses every day, Monday through Friday, from 4:45 PM - 6:15 PM on Elbel Field. Outdoor rehearsals are open to the public if you don't get a chance to see them at a game.

The band has been pumping up fans for 100 years. This long-standing marching band set the standard for other bands across the nation after winning critical fame as the first Sudler Trophy winner in 1982 which is comparable to the Heisman trophy for bands.

THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN MARCHING BAND—UW–MADISON

Weirdly absent from the list is The University of Notre Dame Marching Band, the first and oldest college marching band. Michigan's Marching Band was founded in 1896.

The Michigan Marching Band was the first to do a lot of things like appear in both Yankee Stadium and the Rose Bowl in the same season in 1948. This move earned them the nickname “The Transcontinental Marching Band.” Michigan was also the first Big 10 band to perform for an NFL Superbowl game in 1973.

Which Big Ten Mascot Is The Dumbest?

It's almost a law that every college football team has to have a mascot that parades along the sideline craving attention from fans hopped up on tailgate alcohol. So which Big Ten mascot looks the dumbest? First of all, let me give props to the University of Michigan, the University of Illinois and Indiana University for not having a costumed mascot. They win first place just for not being that dumb to begin with.
