Autumn in Michigan is an unpredictable, unsettled time when it comes weather. If you need proof, here it comes.

The Warming Trend Will Continue And Then Slam Back By Saturday

The sunny weather we've been enjoying this fall has been great, but as Gordon Lightfoot taught us, in his epic Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, 'the gales of November come early', and that usually means lake effect snow.

After we peak with what may be our final near 70 degree day of the year on Thursday, temps will take a tumble, and the shifting winds will bring some lake effect snow showers on Saturday, so if you're headed out for high school playoff football, grab an warm jacket.

Snow Showers Are Due Friday Night And Will Last Into Sunday

The National Weather Service is calling for snow showers beginning Friday evening and continuing into Saturday afternoon, with temperatures on Saturday barely cracking freezing. The snow will continue into Sunday before the sun returns on Monday, as the temps stay low.

Friday Night
A chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
Saturday
Snow showers likely, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 37.
Saturday Night
A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.
Sunday
A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36.
When the Weather Service is tweeting winter driving tips already, you know they know the snow is on the way.

The good news is that as of this writing, it appears there won't be any serious accumulation of snow with this event. But my take is, if it's gonna snow, it might as well stay, right?
