Who Runs The City?: SheRuns Returns To Grand Rapids
It's international Women's month, and girl power is the message. Grand Rapids is the home of many strong women who have made a difference in history including Ethel B. Cole, Eva M. Hamilton, and Anna Bissell. And these women walked so that the women of Grand Rapids in 2022 can run... in more ways than one.
Grand Rapids loves strong women, and in honor of that is also home to one of the most unique running events in the country: She Runs.
Taking over the streets of Grand Rapids on May 1st, She Runs is exclusively for women (and those who identify as non-binary/female) and offers multiple course lengths for people who want to join in no matter their skill level. They offer a 5k, 10k and Half Marathon so no matter your running abilities, you'll be able to participate.
You may remember this event as the Gazelle Girl Legacy run, but after 9 great years they've changed the name (and weekend of the event) for year 10, which should make this a great time to take to the streets of downtown Grand Rapids and join in the fun.
You can register for the run today, and if you sign up before April 1st you'll save $5 on the day of price. All registered participants will receive a women’s fit shirt, custom medal, and race bib.
And, new in 2022 they offer participates the chance to make a $50 donation during registration to help sponsor someone who may not otherwise be able to participate. They are also offering a virtual version of the race for anyone who may not be able to participate in person this year. They are also offering a runner's expo on Saturday April 30th for those who would like to participate in additional fun.
