Wyoming Park Holds Grand Re-Opening
Jackson Park in Wyoming has been closed for construction over the past year but now the Wyoming city park will hold its Grand Re-opening on June 5.
Wyoming Mayor Jack Poll spoke with Fox 17,
"We are excited to reopen Jackson Park for our residents. The redevelopment has been highly anticipated by area residents and we are happy to have the park complete.”
The park is located at 1331 33rd Street. It's located adjacent to the Jackson Park Middle School.
You're invited to attend the celebration from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on June 5. The celebration will include the Wyoming Public School District’s high school band performing. There will also be family activities, and you can play in the new splash pad.
The park has playground equipment, 2 soccer fields, 8 tennis courts, and a basketball court. An informal natural surface walkway provides access to the woods as well as a route to the northern areas of the park and middle school. The southern area of the park is a strip of land that is wooded and extends to 36th Street.
The improvements to the park were received by funding from the City’s Capital Projects Revolving Fund. The project cost $1.4 million. Jackson Park now includes a new splash pad, parking lot, playground, security lighting and shelter.
The improvement got underway much later than originally expected. The city had hoped to begin work on the park back in 2015.
