Donated by Safe Kids Greater South Haven of Bronson South Haven Hospital, the loaner stations have various life jackets of various sizes, ranging from infant to adult.

Are the life jackets free?

The city says that the life jackets are free to utilize while at the beaches in South Haven but they should be returned for another person to use.

According to City Manager Kate Hosier, the life jacket stations were installed last week at South Haven's North and South beaches.

"This part of the city's ongoing efforts to educate and provide tools for water safety."

On Friday, August 5th, Hosier also revealed that the members of the South Haven Rotary Club, Safe Kids Greater South Haven, the City of South Haven, and South Haven Area Emergency Services made several donations for the loaner stations.

"The funds helped offset coasts for the donation for the loaner board and lifejackets."

With the loaner jackets, there is no mention of the sanitation routines and procedures. After monkeypox has been declared a public health emergency in the state of Michigan, I am concerned about borrowing life jackets that other people have worn.
