You Can Get More than Books at the Library

When it comes to checking out items from the library, the first thing everyone thinks of is books. However at the Kent District Library they offer a lot more than just books!

It's called their Beyond Books Collection. KDL offers up these items to be checked out much like you would check out a good book to read.

Here are just some of the items you can check out...

Portable Turntables -- Perhaps you'd like to hear some of those vinyl records that you have stored away in a closet again. Don't have a working turntable? No worries...you can check one out at the library.

Kill a Watt EZ Meter -- Consumers Energy is upping their electricity rates during peak hours in the afternoons. Find out just how much energy your devices are using. Check out a Kill a Watt EZ Meter that shows just how much "juice" your appliances and electronic devices might be using.

Green Cross Line Laser Kit -- Doing some construction and need some level lines? Check out the Green Cross Line Laser Kit from KDL.

Wifi Mobile Hotspot -- Traveling somewhere with no internet service? Or perhaps your internet service is down at home or work for some reason. Why not check out a Wifi Mobile Hotspot from Kent District Library.

Ukulele -- This one is my favorite. Perhaps you want to learn to play a ukulele, but don't want to go out and purchase one until you get really good at it. Now you can rent a ukulele from KDL. It even comes with a tuner and a practice book. Just how quickly will you be able to play "Tiptoe through the Tulips" on the ukulele?!

Those are just a few of the many items available for checkout at various Kent District Library branches.

To check out any of these items you will need:

• A KDL library card
• To be 18 years or older
• To have a library card in good standing (under $20 in fines)
• To agree to a Borrower’s Agreement to acknowledge your responsibility for the item (including higher overdue fines than other KDL materials)
